  • Hubby and I were here at the office today, having a leisurely
lunch.  When he left, he decided to give me a "porn star" tongue
kiss.  (Sticking of your entire tongue down recipient's
throat.  Icky.)  I told him that wasn't sexy.  He said
that's not what he learned from Penthouse.

And then the secret came out.

Apparently he had submitted some letter to Penthouse Forum.  And
those letters were published.  Granted, this was 20 years
ago.  However, I still think that is pretty darn cool!  I am
married to a closet pornographer!  Woot!  Of course, those
who know me, know that I have occasionally written my own *ahem*
erotica.  So I am not at all disturbed by Hubby's previous writing
    career.  *grin*

He said there were 5 letters, all of which were published, AND he got
paid $50 each for them.  Which is more than I can say for my
creative writing endeavors.  I've been "published" on the
internet, but haven't been paid.  (I occasionally contribute to a
free site out there...I enjoy it, but am also frustated by the lack of
quality pieces on the site...most of them are crap that is riddled with
grammatical and spelling errors so grevious that even a third grader
would cringe.)  (And no, I am not going to tell you which site.)

So...that is my revelation for the day.  Pretty darn cool.

As far as the current news of the day...I really don't much feel like
talking about it except to say that EVERYONE should have a Living Will
(aka an Advance Health Care Directive), regardless of what, exactly you
desire.  Not only a Living Will, but also a Health Care Power of
Attorney so that someone you trust (and who is good in a crisis) can
make sure your wishes, as expressed in your Living Will, are carried
    out.

That will be all.  Class dismissed!!!

  • That is pretty cute that your husband is such a star!

Agreed! Mine is already done. My husband would keep me a vegetable forever, which is scary!  His devotion is admired, but not thank you!

  • You know what's cool? Twenty years ago, I always read Penthouse Forum. I probably read your husband's stories!

  • That's so cool!!! Hubby kicks ass for writing, getting published, and getting cash for his work!

  • That's so cool! I don't think I'd ever dare publish something like that, must be my Dutch, calvinist upbringing. Things have been really hectic here at work -new boss, attorney general will leave by the end of May, wrapping up my knwoledge management & intranet project, etc. - and it really copulated up my social contacts, either off or online. Renée gave me a few subtle and not-so subtle hints that my work began to seriously interfere with my home life, and she's been right as always. So today I won't be working till 8 pm, but instead I'll be home early and put in some xanga time.

The Advance Health Care Directive can really help in avoiding situations like the Schiavo case. Renée and I have very strong feelings about these matters and we're well aware of eachothers wishes in that respect. Neither of us would willingly accept living at the mercy of machines and hospital staff for the rest of what could hardly be termed, our natural lives. We both know when to pull the plug on each other so to speak, and we also know that we will honour this should it ever come to it, no matter what it will do to ourselves.

What I find difficult to grasp is the presidential intervention in the Schiavo case. I couldn't think of any European administration that would go to such lengths to force a Supreme Court ruling on such a monumental issue at such a short notice. It was my understanding that especially nations that depend more on Anglo-Saxon case law rather than the codified law systems of most European countries, would be even more oppossed to such hasty legal conclusions at that level. Maybe I'm asking something that every US eight-grader should know, but comparative law has always been one of my interests because it reflects something of the underlying social structures and value systems. But then again, maybe I should get a life one of these days...

Hugs! Have a great day, -Wil
