Went to see Casino Royale this weekend – fun film.

I was worried about how Daniel Craig was going to do as Bond.  I
always worry when they switch actors.  And I REALLY liked Pierce
Brosnan.

However, Daniel Craig was QUITE good.  He was not nearly as suave
as some of the others, and in fact was much grittier, but from what I
understand that was the intent of the directors.  And, truly, it
worked for me.

Daniel Craig’s eyes are freakishly blue.

But he’s got an AMAZING body.

Mmmm hmmm.

Book Review:

“Man Hunting” by Jennifer Crusie.

This is a fun, short read by one of my favorite authors.  The
story is entertaining, the characters engaging, for the most
part.  The only thing lacking was an exploration of why the main
character was so dead set on pursuing a particular course.

Good, fun, light reading.

Book Review:

“The Big Over Easy” by Jasper Fforde

I enjoy Jasper Fforde’s work – he’s got an excellent sense of the
absurd, and it shows through in every literature reference sprinkled
liberally throughout his works.  This book is the first in his
“Nursery Crime” series.  In this one Humpty Dumpty takes a big
fall, off of a wall…and it may just be Murder!  The investigator
is Jack Spratt and his assistant is Mary Mary…

Characters from all sorts of genres appear, but you don’t necessarily
have to recognize them or the literature references in order to enjoy
the story.

A very entertaining read, and I definitely recommend it.

“Toxic Bachelors” by Danielle Steel

What an absolute piece of shit book this one is.  I used to read
Danielle Steel when I was younger (and when my taste in casual reading
was even more in my ass than it is now, apparently).  This book is one
of the worst I’ve ever had the misfortune to read.  The book is
extremely light on character development, and the author describes most
everything in the book rather than showing the story through action or
dialog.  I think there were perhaps 10 pages of dialog in total
throughout the book.   If this one was made into a condensed version it
could be told in 5 pages or less rather than the 100s of pages Ms.
Steel wastes.  Seriously, this book is awful and someone needs to sue
the author, her editor and publisher for the waste of ink and trees in
the making of this book.

Why, oh why must I live in a state that has a dearth of even DECENT
bagels.  (Good bagels?  Hah!  Forget it!)  I went
to a truly amazing breakfast buffet last weekend.  It was so
incredibly delicious. 

Freshly made crepes, a choloclate fountain for dipping strawberries and
other yummies, 4 meat carving stations, made to order omelettes…just
so indescribably good.  And, best of all, lox.  With all the
trimmings.  But.  BUT!  The bagels.  Oh, what a
travesty.  I like plain bagels, so that part was ok.  But
they were little, store-bought cocktail bagels.  Not even
fresh.  It seemed SUCH a waste to put this amazing lox (soooo
delicious…just perfect lox!) on a craptastic bagel.

Wah!!  I want a good egg bagel!!!!!!!!!!!!  Of course, the
only place I’ve ever been able to find egg bagels was in Los Angeles
and Dallas (and only one deli in all of Dallas had egg bagels.
ONE!!)  What’s a bagel-loving, sort-of-Jewish girl to do? 
(Sort of Jewish because my mom is Jewish, dad is not, and I was raised
without any religious practices).

*sigh*

Oh, the horror.  To have to eat the best lox I’ve had in years on a piece of bread not even worthy of being called a bagel.

(I am hungry.  Can you tell?)

My birthday party was great.  We had a private karaoke party at a
local, very posh place.  It was way too much fun. 

My dad came to visit, and that was wonderful.  I don’t get to see him often enough.

I took the whole weekend off.  I even took Monday off, since the courts were closed and I was feeling lazy.

Now, I am completely snowed under and am feeling the stress. 
*sigh*  Stupid stupid move, that one.  But, I know that I
cannot work every minute.  So I’ve been working on letting go of
the stress, and just doing everything I can when I am here at the
office.

Arrrgh.  Phone’s ringing.  Must go work.
